Alert for digital payment users: If you use digital payment apps like Paytm, Google Pay or PhonePe, then this news is very important for you. Some important changes related to the digital payment system are going to be implemented from August 1, 2025 , which can directly affect crores of users.
What will users not be able to do after August 1?
According to the new guidelines of National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) and banks, the services of some users may be temporarily suspended if they have not completed some necessary updates. These include:
Cheque payments (payments linked to e-Mandate or UPI Autopay)
Transactions from linked bank accounts
UPI Autopay services such as subscription or EMI payments
Problems with login or transactions from the registered mobile number
Why is this change happening?
Under the direction of NPCI and RBI, the process of KYC, bank verification and mobile number verification is being further strengthened. Its main objective is:
Preventing fraud
Making digital payments more secure
Combatting fake accounts and spam transactions
Which users will be affected?
-
Whose KYC is incomplete
-
Whose mobile number is not verified
-
Whose bank account is not properly linked to the digital app
-
Who have approved UPI Autopay but haven’t verified
What should users do?
If you don’t want your digital payment services to stop, do these 4 important things now:
-
Complete your KYC (via Paytm, GPay, PhonePe apps)
-
Double check the linking of your bank account
-
Verify mobile number and confirm with OTP
-
Reactivate UPI Autopay permissions (if paused)
What if you don’t update it in time?
In such a situation, your UPI account may be temporarily deactivated . You will not be able to send or receive money, autopay, or make payments by scanning QR code. Services will resume only after you get KYC done again from the bank and follow the rules of NPCI.
Digital payment has become our daily necessity today. In such a situation, if you use Paytm, Google Pay or PhonePe, then do all the updates mentioned above before August 1 , so that your payments continue without any interruption.
A little attention will save you from big trouble.
